8 WEEK MINDFULNESS COURSE

 

Building core skills in mindfulness and seeing significant results in just eight weeks.

 

This Eight Week Mindfulness Course is based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn. We combine that with elements derived from Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). The course follows the outlines laid out in Michael Chaskalson's book - 'Mindfulness in Eight Weeks'.

 

The core skill that you will learn is mindfulness: a way of paying attention on purpose and non-judgementally to what goes on in the present moment in your body, mind and the world around you.

 

Extensive scientific research into mindfulness training consistently reveals its effectiveness in enhancing health and well-being. Some of these benefits include:

 

  • Reductions in stress, anxiety, depression and exhaustion – and an increase in positive emotions, resilience and well-being
  • A stronger immune system, helping you to fight off illness more effectively
  • An increased capacity for focus, attention, learning, memory, creativity and concentration
  • A greater ability to regulate your emotions and to feel kind and compassionate towards ourselves and others
  • Heightened self-confidence and assertiveness.

Whichever format you choose, the courses comprise between 12 and 25 people working together as a group. On them, you will learn several key mindfulness practices and have the chance to discuss these and your experience of them in the group.

 

Home practice is an important part of the course, and each participant is recommended to try doing between 20 and 40 minutes of practice, six days per week, between each class.

SATURDAY COURSES

 

Saturday courses are taught over four 4 hour sessions at fortnightly intervals. There is an additional silent retreat morning before the concluding session.

 

WEEKDAY EVENING COURSES

 

Weekday evening courses are taught over eight 2 hour sessions at weekly intervals. They include an optional all-day session on one Saturday.

Covers all the taught sessions, the silent retreat morning or all-day session, downloadable audio materials to support home practice and a workbook.

 

 

There are a few concessions available at £175 inc VAT for those who are in full-time education or in receipt of benefits and not currently working. Please contact us if you would like to be considered for a concession.
